Harbaugh joins the 49ers
Jim Harbaugh finally found the job he just coudn`t pass up. As bad as he wanted to stay at Stanford, he just coudn`t. He left the Cardinal for the San Francisco 49ers, agreeing to a 5-year 25 million dollar deal. He led Stanford along with star quarterback Andrew Luck, to an impressive Orange Bowl win over Virginia Tech.
Stanford finished the season 12-1 after what seemed to be years of misery before Harbaugh arrived(with all due respect to Bill Walsh). He will inherit a 49er team that has missed the playoffs for eight straight seasons. His enthusiasm was contagious as he mentioned San Francisco being one of the most legendary franchises in all of professional football.
Harbaugh who is now 47, finished his college coaching career with a record of 58-27, that included a 29-21 record at Stanford.
