The Detroit Lions made history Sunday by becoming the first team in the NFL to go 0-16, since the change was expanded to 16 games in 1978. They now join the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers-(0-14) as the only team to never win a game in one NFL season. The 31-21 loss to the Green Bay Packers sealed the deal for them.
After trailing 24-14 midway through the last quarter, Kevin Smith`s nine yard touchdown run put the Lions back within a three. However, the Packers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers answered back with a 71-yard bomb to receiver Donald Driver. Detroit quarterback Dan Orlovsky threw an interception on 4th and 27 with around 3 minutes left, sending Detroit to a first winless season in NFL history.
Some games Detroit stayed close against its opponents like two losses by a combined 6 points to the Minnesota Vikings and Adrian Peterson. (12-10), (20-16). Then there was the Thanksgiving Day game against the Tennessee Titans on national television. They lost or should I say got destroyed 47-10. The Titans Chris Johnson and LenDale White ran crazy against them. At any rate, the NFL season is over for Detroit so they can`t lose anymore. Please, no more jokes until training camp....
