Clemson makes Swinney “Coach Swinney”

photo credit: scmikeburton Clemson interim Coach Dabo Swinney was officially named head coach at Clemson. Swinney took over for the fired Tommy Bowden after a torrid 1-4 start to Clemson`s season. He was given a 5-year contract agreement, that is waiting for board of approval. Swinney said "I`ve never failed at anything".
Swinney and the Tigers finished the season 7-5 and are headed for a bowl game from their improved play. Swinney fired offensive coordinator Ron Spence and took over the play-calling duties. Clemson finished the year on a winning streak to put itself bowl eligible.
Swinney wanted the athletes to interact with the students, so each would support each other. He reinstated "Tiger Walk" a tradition at Clemson, where the students walk through the parking lot, in order for the football players to get a true feel of fan support! Sometimes it`s the small things people re implement back into a program, that really matters most to fans and players. I think Clemson made a great decision by retaining Swinney, but only time will tell.
