Auburn`s Tommy Tuberville resigns…

photo credit: au_tiger01 In a move that stunned many and yet surprised none, Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville resigned. Tuberville was 85-40 in 10 seasons at Auburn in the tough SEC. Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs was stunned by the move. Jacobs said that he and Auburn Tigers president Jay Gogue never even thought of letting Tuberville go.
Tuberville had some great seasons at Auburn that included going undefeated at 13-0 in 2004. That year they finished number 2 in the nation when the polls closed. However, some Auburn fans just felt like he could have done better with the talent that he had. But when you are playing in the SEC, I think this is the toughest conference in college football every year!
Auburn finished this year at a disappointing 5-7, way below Auburn standards. In the Iron Bowl, they were blown out by rival and number 1 ranked Alabama, 36-0. Losing to Auburn was the final straw for Tuberville, as I`m sure he felt enough was enough. Auburn and Alabama is like Duke and North Carolina. They both hate each other in battle. I`m sure we havn`t heard the last of Tuberville, as he has a lot left to offer in coaching.
