Tennessee “defends” win against Chicago 21-14
For all the talk about, okay, this is the week Tennessee and their defense gets exposed, Titan fans are still waiting. Tennessee remained the only undefeated team in NFL Football this year, with a 21-14 win at Chicago. The Bears, who started Rex Grossman for the injured Kyle Orton, came out firing away to a 7-0 lead, capped of by a Rex Grossman 5-yard touchdown pass to Matt Forte. However, this day on offense would belong to veteran Kerry Collins. He finished the day 30-41 with 289 yards and 2 touchdowns.
At one point, he had 12 straight completions to his receivers, highlighted by Bo Scaife who finished the day with 10 catches for 78 yards and one touchdown. It was a good thing that Collins came to play, because the remarkable tandem of Chris Johnson and LenDale White finished the day with a combined total of 22 rushing yards on 24 attempts. With the score tied at 7 early in the third, Collins hooked up with Justin Gage on a 12-yard score to make it 14-7 Titans. Chicago was held scoreless in the third, thanks to a historic Titan defense that has been consistent all year long.
LenDale White scored on a 2-yard run early in the 4th quarter to make the score 21-7 Tennessee. Chicago didn`t give up and neither did Rex Grossman, who was booed all game long by the Chicago faithful. He scored on a 1-yard run with 4:55 left to make the score 21-14 Titans. The Bears defense held Tennessee and forced them to punt, which gave Chicago one last chance. But it was the Titans defense that had the last say, as they held Grossman and Chicago in check on the last drive to win 21-14.
