Panthers fowled out by Falcons
Panthers have been sitting pretty on the top of the NFC south Division until today. The Atlanta Falcons came out strong and stayed strong all game long. Matt Ryan (QB) was 17/27 with 259 yards with no TD'S. Michael Turner had twenty-four carries for 117 yards and four TD'S. to lead the Falcons to the 48-25 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Jason Elam had one field goal and six extra point kicks to finish off the dominating win.
The Panthers tried to come back in the second half with Jake Delhomme and Steve Smith clicking like wild fire. But it wasn't enough to come back from the fourteen point lead Atlanta had at half-time. Delhomme went 21/35 with 295 yards passing and one TD he scored himself. DeAngelo Williams had nineteen carries for 101 yards and a TD. Wide receiver Steve Smith played with all his heart and totaled 168 yards with eight reception's. John Kasay the only original panther, was good for two field goals and two extra point kicks, but still unable to stop the Falcons assault.
The Carolina Panthers are still on top of the division right now, even after the loss to Atlanta and Tampa Bay's win over Detroit, but with five weeks to go anything can and will happen so may the best team win that division.
