Falcons Quarterback Woes
The outcome looked bleak for the Falcons in '07 When their QB was arrested for supposedly having arranged dog fights. Michael Vick had been with the Falcons since '01 and had led the team to many victories. Michael in his six years with the Falcons had thrown for 11,505 passing yds and thrown seventy one td's. This is impressive but even more so knowing that in his first and third season as a Falcon he did not even play in all regular season games and his second, fourth and fifth season as a Falcon he missed at least one regular season game. Yet he still had those amazing numbers.
The '07 season for Falcons wasn't so well without a veteran QB their season was horrible. Joey Harrington was their new QB and played twelve regular season games and started ten of those twelve. He passed for 2,215 yds and seven td's. Then came Chris Redman who played in seven games that season with only four starts, but Redman did manage to pass for 1,079 yds and ten td's and last but not least by any means is Byron Leftwich most known as the QB for the Jacksonville Jaguars from '03-05. Byron played only three games for the Falcons and was the starting QB only twice that season. Leftwich had thrown for 279 yds and only one TD still impressive in my opinion.
The '08 season wasn't looking well either having to start a new season off with a rookie as a QB. But this rookie has more than showed his talent. Matt Ryan coming from Boston college at the age of 23 has done very well as an Atlanta Falcon. Matt as played and started all nine regular season games and he has thrown for almost 2,000 yds passing. He haseleven td's in nine games and helped the Falcons to rise to an impressive 6-3 season thus far. The 2008 Falcons season is still young, lets see what happens.
