Clinton Portis Only Half and Half
Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis is still unable to practice because of a sprained knee, and Redskins head coach said the running back is "Half-Half" for Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys.
Portis bruised his knee on his last game's 23-6 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in final play of the first quarter, but returned for the next series and finished the game. After Portis was treated following the game, The pain got progressively worse. Redskins head coach said Monday that Portis has not only a sprain but a bone bruise on the femur as well.Tuesday everyone found out that Portis actually had a grade 2 sprain of his MCL. A grade 2 sprain of the MCL is an incomplete tear of one of the knee's four major ligaments and could require a recovery time of three to four weeks. So with this new found information it is quite possible that Clinton's reserve might start Sunday against Dallas. But that will only be the case if Betts is 100% Sunday, doubtful knowing that he too also sustained a sprained MCL, and has yet to return to practice. But Redskins fans don't fear these is still hope for the skins. Shaun Alexander and Rock Cartwright would assume the RB duties. Alexander has 10 carries in three games since joining the Redskins after Betts' injury, and Cartwright has four rushes. But remember this also Redskins fans no one is saying Portis is out so he could be a game-time decision, if he's not ruled out completly.
Portis is as of week eleven of regular season play second in the league in rushing with 995 yards on 200 carries.
