Carolina has Gamble “covered” with 6-year extension

photo credit: Trostle The Carolina Panthers signed cornerback Chris Gamble to a six-year extension today, before he could test the free agent waters this off-season. Gamble, who was the Panthers first round pick in the 2004 NFL draft, is having the best season of his NFL career. He has 17 pass deflections and two interceptions. He is a big reason why Carolina is ranked ninth in pass defense as any Panther fan will tell you.
Gamble said today that "I wanted to be in Carolina". The deal will keep him in Carolina at least until 2014. It is worth 53 million dollars and it includes 23 million worth of guaranteed bonuses. It instantly makes him one of the Top 5 paid players at his position. If Carolina can resign star Julius Peppers and Jordan Gross it will solidify their franchise for years to come. They already have a star on offense to showcase in Steve Smith. Add DeAngelo Williams and rookie Jonathan Stewart in the mix, and the Panthers future is extremely bright!
